Deasy Family Desertserges/ CountyCork/West Ham London
« on: Sunday 30 August 09 17:01 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone !

William Deasy was born in Desertserges County Cork approx 1840 and died in london 1917.  He married Johannah surname unknown. in 1891 and 1901 they were living in West Ham in London with 5 children : William, Catherine,Mary, Johannah and James. All of the children were born in England from 1870s onwards but I can't find the family on the 1881 Census. I am also wondering where I could find a birth certificate for William. Do I look for the parish Desertserges ? or I am slightly confused what the townlands are within this parish - Sorry if I am being ignorant  :(  also how I could find out the maiden name of Johannah who he married .   I would be grateful if anyone can help me with any of this. Or are there any relatives out there ? I haven't been able to trace anyone, I am beginning to think we are almost extinct !! Ha! Ha!  - Thank you for your help - Denise

Hello Denise,

That townland has a strange spelling.   Try to google Cork townlands and see what happens

Great news that I want the world to know,  the 1911 Census for all of Ireland has just become available online and FREE.   You will see townlands listed for CORK :)

HI Denise,

Have you ordered any of the children's birth certificates to find out Johannah's maiden name?

Irish BDM's are indexed on line at www.familysearchlabs.com

Hello Karen. No I haven't requested their certificates.  I knew that mother's and father's name would be on them but not mother's maiden name.  I might have to explore this avenue   ! Thank you for getting back to me. Like Fenetta; I wish you a great weekend too !

The mother's maiden name is usually on the birth certificates.
