Does anyone live in Abertridwr ?
« on: Sunday 30 August 09 13:17 BST (UK) »
My G Grandfather Robert Wood Newton Carter  died at 4 Percy Place Abertridwr in 1906. I wonder if anyone knows where he is likely to be buried. Are there any local churchyards near there? We hope to visit Pontypridd soon & it would be lovely to visit his grave.
Many thanks
Brenda (in West Sussex)

There are plenty of graves there. Caerphilly library used to have an index of the people buried there, not sure if it still does.

Penyrheol Cemetery is also nearby but it didn't open till 1909.

I have emailed the Rector of Eglwysilan Church Sykes & he is going to look into his records for me- so hopefully he was buried there. I WILL find him !!!
Thanks so much Sikes- really appreciate that

Hi

There is no Percy Place in Abertridwr (the Caerphilly one) now. It may have been knocked down though but its unlikely.

Hope this helps.

Lionel

In the 1901 census, the only Robert Carter (apart from a 6mth old in High Street) is living at 4 Brook Street (which is still there).
