Thanks for that Taid

One of these days I will find a question that no one can answer. I know!! If the British census says  a relative was born in Ireland how would you know which area to start looking?  :P

Margaret

Good one Margaret! I also have a couple of those !!

Hi all

I was in the archives on Saturday, and they are saying now that the Dublin city census 1911 is running behind, but that it should be up and running by about december.

And then the other counties will follow afterwards, and only then they will start on 1901

especially for my owens family.have tried the few times I've
managed to get to the archives, though being able to search on

oh and by the way, they also saying that the searches can be broken down a lot

so if you were looking eg all the carpenters with the surname smith in dublin, it will give you the list too.

they are hoping that there server will be able to handle the rush on the day, i dont think they have any idea of how popular this is going to be!

I hope no-one was holding their breath awaiting the census.

Tired of waiting for the census to be online, I emailed the person on the press release page from the original link on page one of this topic.

This is what I asked 'Is there any news about when the 1901 and 1911 census are likely to be on-line?  The last I heard was, after initial delays the Dublin 1911 census was expected to be on-line by Autumn 2007, just wondered what the status was'.

This was their reply "I don’t have better information than that I’m afraid.  I imagine it will be early 2008 at this point".

It's especially annoying for me as Dublin 1911 is the one I desperately want to see, as my Dad isn't where I expected him to be.

I think it would be quicker if we all did a page ourselves, even the press release is two years old now.  Regards, TonyR.
