Hi D Rodrigu,

I have looked through 1871 census and the only match I could find is =

Anne     Morgan, Wid.     age  42   washer woman

Mary           "     Sin         "   17    landing coal

Elizabeth     "                  "     7

Thomas       "                  "     5

Living at  86, (looks like)  Bethina Colliery Arms  Merthyr Tydfil.

If you have any further infomation relating to your search I will be more than pleased to take a look.

Thanks so much for making time for this lookup. Do you have access to the 1861 census? If so, anything you can find is appreciated. If you don't have access, please reply so I can post another note and hopefully find more info.

Best regards,
Don

Some more information....

The Morgan family was thought to have about 8 children, but only two emigrated to the U.S. with mother, Mary (nee Roberts) Morgan, in 1874.  Suspect the other kids died in childhood since childhood mortality was high then. The child Thomas, whom you identified from the 1871 census, is previously unknown, so your research is a big help.

Mother Anne (nee Roberts) Morgan was born in Merthy Tydfil, and was likely married and started her family there. Possibly her husband, Thomas Morgan, was born there also although this is unknown.

It's possible Anne (nee Roberts) Morgan may be found in the 1831 and 1841 census by her maiden name (Anne Roberts); and the 1851 and 1861 census by her married name (Anne Morgan). She probably married her husband, Thomas, about 1850.

If Thomas Morgan (b. about 1828) was born in Merthyr Tydfil (likely), maybe he too can be found in the 1831, 1841 and 1851 censuses (possibly in 1851 as married); and in the 1861 census (definitely married).

Thanks for any further look up help you can supply.
