Kildare BMDs

Hi - I am trying to find my gt grandmother Mary Rowe who states in a census in London that she was born in Kildare (I don't know if that was the city or county).  She married my gt grandfather in 1870 in Dundalk where he was serving in the British army.  I do not think she was a catholic.  I know she was born around 1846/7 and her father was called John and was a servant. I intend to come to Ireland to research into this.  Can anybody direct me as to the best place to start my research?

Don't think me an expert in Irish BMD's but I was only searching for a Northern Ireland marriage earlier today. I was pointed to this familysearch pilot site.

I've entered Mary Rowe /marriage /1870 & got a result for Dundalk vol 12 page 681, I cannot verify if it is the correct one as you've not supplied your grandfather's name.

I am also trying to find out info on a Mary Rowe (Lived in Kildare Barracks in 1911).  My gt grandmother was called Mary Rowe  -  I dont know her maiden name but her year of birth would have been 1879 (according to 1911 census)

my grandfather was called John Rowe and his father was from Aldershot, Hampshire, they moved/posted to south Ireland according to this census they lived at Kildare Barracks, they then lived in Dundalk.

Im not sure if this is a match because we have different birth years...

I must admit my heart gave a little leap when I first read your message.  Sadly my Mary Rowe was born around 1847 in Kildare whilst yours would be born around 1879.  Its quite spooky really as my Mary's father was also called John and according to her marriage certificate John's occupation was a servant.  However my Mary Rowe married  William Chamberlain in Dundalk in 1870 and they were back in the UK by 1881.  By 1891 William was a civilian and living in London.  Unfortunately we do not have a match 

However,  there could possibly be some connection.  Do you know which part of Kildare your Mary Rowe was born?

Just thought you may like to know that the family's of soldiers who were serving in Co Kildare at the time you cite lived in Mc Gee Terrace. These are a small group of terraced houses situated between 'what was once the army Barracks' and the Garda (Police) Station on the main road through Kildare town. The houses are still standing and occupied.

It might help you to note that the 28th Brigade (122, 123 & 124 Batteries) Royal Field Artillery moved from Kildare to Dundalk in May 1912 which your relation served with. They had arrived from Aldershot in June 1910.

I am interested in any info on anyone who served in Kildare Barracks especially a photo of the individual for some research I am carrying out.
