« on: Thursday 27 August 09 19:46 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I am seeking any reference to relation of Elizabeth Lewis (Nee  Unknown) b 1775 in Llandaf Cardiff.

She married my Gr/gr/gr/gr grandfather Unknown Lewis.  He came from Merthyr.
Their children were :
Ann Lewis C 1833
Mary Lewis C 1835
Edward Lewis C 1839
David Lewis C 1840
Catherine Lewis C 1843
Thomas Lewis C 1845

I paticularly want to find who my G/G/G/G/Grandfather was.

Hi Peter are you sure of her birthdate, because if she was born in 1775 she would have been 70 when her youngest child was born, and I don't think they had IVF in those days.

there's an extracted baptism in IGI batch C024681 for Llanfabon for
Lewis Lewis son of Edward & Elizabeth bp 30/1/1803

Could he be yours?

HI

I have Lewis was Born c 1805

The 1841 Glamorgan census has him listes as living at Craig Berthlwyd

Lewis Lewis b 1806 Tyler
Catherine Lewis wife b 1806
Ann dau b 1833
Mary dau b 1835
Edward Son b 1838
David Son b 1841

which links in with what I have from family details.

In the 1851 Glamorgan cencus the family us listed living in Zoar Fach Lanfabon
with Elizabeth, Mo.  b1776 Llandaf.  Pauper

This would mean whoever her husband was would had died by now

In the 1861 Glam Census they are at Pantysteddfa in Penrhys. Catherine is not shown, but as a bonus a to me  ;D a William aged 9 is shown  :D which ponders the thought   ??? did Catherine die in childbirth which would put her at 46 yrs old, I cannot say

I think the Edward b 1776 and Elizabeth b 1781  you have may well be the family living in Lancarfan, but the only child they have listed in the 1841 is a Richard b 1826

Thank in any case, but Elizabeth's husband remains elusive.

I may try Glam records office next week if I get a chance.

Thanks
PeterY

ages on the 1841 were meant to be rounded down, so someone showing as 35 is actually 35 - 40. The rounding down didn't always happen and real ages are shown, but if the rest of the page shows 20,25,30,35 etc as the ages of adults, then they've been rounded down.
