Hi Lorna
Many thanks for your recent info and your interest in the Fairbairns.  All the names you mention seem to tie in with names on my tree.  Unfortunately at the moment family matters are taking preference over searching for ancesters but will be in touch again
as soon as I can.
Again appreciate your info.  Looks interesting.  Just a quickie but take it you've not  come across a William Louis Fairbairn married Caroline Melloy in 1884 and James Edward
Fairbairn (brother) married Mary Sharples also in 1884?
Regards
Joan

Hi Jonjor,
No, I admit I've also drawn a blank on them.

I'd noticed you were looking and had a quick check some time ago and failed.
Tried again just recently, to no further avail.
All the best,
Lorna

and have just had a eureka moment.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Down/Victoria/Cheviot_Avenue/1221793/
shows William Louis and wife Caroline in 1901 over in Ireland (where Caroline was born).
Caroline may, or may not, be the Caroline of an age showing in the Belfast death indexes as dying in 1913, and ditto William Louis may, or may not, be the William Louis FAIRBAIRN marrying in 1914 Q1 also in Belfast.

Hope this helps, (the DNA project is still looking for a representative for the line of William, son of John & Elizabeth (YULE) FAIRBAIRN - with a bit of luck and a fair wind, might even match one of our latest recruits into the project too.
