the more i look now i only see Cawse too but i agree on the newland bit.. it seems very plausible but the first letter seems very untidy for either an N or H.. still puzzled on that one... it does look like ...land though doesnt it?

Ancestry did do a webinar on 'secretary hand' a few months back & I am sure they put the whole webinar with slides online. I cannot find how to navigate to it now.

Yes, David's right Laura, it's Cawse - my apologies; I've had a (very) quick search for it, but
haven't turned up anything promising. Do you know the county to which all this refers ?

Thanks Josey thats great!! having a real good dig around for this lot now..
I think these are all areas around Lincoln . I know of a st giles street more or less next to the street where george lived on eastgate thanks so much.. the cawse farm dates are a bit late but its likely its the same farm...
