Greetings from New Zealand.
I am researching our family history and have a strong feeling that I may have found where our James Molony came from in Limerick. Prior to my search of Griffiths, all we knew was that James married in Australia in 1860, age 27 and gave his parents names as David MOLONY and Alice HOGAN from Limerick.
After cross matching all the Molony/ Moloneys and Hogans in every parish in Limerick I have narrowed my search to a few and believe the David Molony and Lawrence Hogan I have found listed in Griffiths in Lissanalta Townland, may be the right ones.
Can any one suggest where I might look for Catholic records from the Mungret ( I hope I have this name right) Parish, as James would have been born about 1833. We do not know if he had any siblings, nor anything about his parents, other than his fathers name.
Also can anyone advise if there was actually a village in this townland or was it just rural land. Any information about the district would be gratefully received.
Exciting to think we may yet find our roots after so many years of searching.
Regards
Heather
