Hi Sandy,

I have a couple of WWII fellows for you.

First my uncle Jack (Jack Harold Berrill) born Wellingborough 22/12/1910 and saw service with the Royal Marines in South Africa and Italy (at least) but ended up being invalided out with TB after being shipped from tropical climes to Scotland in winter but still with tropical kit!

Second up is cousin Charlie (Charles Edward William Frost) born Daventry Q4/1920 and served as Trooper #7893070 with the 46th (The Liverpool Welsh) Battalion, Royal Tank Regiment, R.A.C. Killed during fighting on the Campoleone Salient at Anzio during Operation Shingle on 04/02/1944 and buried in Grave XX.J.4 at the Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio, Italy. (Picture taken at Cairo when part of Monty's Desert Rats).

Hope they are of interest/use to you.

Regards,
Paul

I very much appreciate them.

Especially the background information to go with the excellent photographs.

Thanks again.

Hi Sandy

It's PhilA (Phil Andrews of Wootton) here, you directed me to this site yesterday. You've been helping me with the project to record the history of 130 men on the Daventry Great war memorial (In particular the search for W Wadsworth of the Kings Rifle Brigade).
The main researcher chap of each soldier's history is Gerry Thompson (who I've yet to meet) but I notice on the website he has states he has photos on many of the men, so when he has time I'm sure he'll be pleased to let you have copies - and you may have some for him?. I'm tracking down the names that he can't find and as a by-product connecting them by family too!
I've just looked though all 13 pages here and I can't see a singe mention of Daventry men at all!!
I have a few pictures of my family from WWI on my ancestry site which you can glady have. In what format is best for you? Do you want to copy them off there if I give you their names? Or what?
Although I read your initial post I'm uncertain what your project is! Is this the end product where people can just view? or is there another site in some sequence of which war and regiment etc? Are you collating for a book? Or it is just completely random submission on here?
Do you want pictures of serving soldiers in later wars? - if so I'll let you take a photo of me!

Regards
Phil
