The records I have are transcriptions and that is why I gave you the names of the areas where the census was taken. When you do a search on SP for the census - omit forenames and everyone from the same household will be under the same reference number on the page but remember to use the soundex for Mc/Mac.

You may get the 1841 on www.freecen.org which will give you a reference but i think you will get it on SP ok.

You have Alexander marrying onboard in 1832? - typo.

I don't know where the one I gave you would fit but it looked like a definite connection with the naming pattern. I didn't really compare ages either as I was trying to get through it before I had to go out.

Regards,

Anne Marie.

P.S. I meant to say I'm quite accustomed with the pronunciation & spelling of gaelic names from around the world as my paternal side are from South Uist, Eriskay & Barra and I also lived on the island and went to school for a yr as a kid. Been back many times and know the area pretty well which helps enormously especially with names being the same all too often. I did speak some gaelic back then but have lost it all apart from the odd word. I couldn't make a sentence or write any but I can read & understand certain gaelic words, names/placenames etc. Used to be in the gaelic choir & also knew all my prayers in gaelic but sadly I struggle with it now. Can still count to 10 though in gaelic. Now I'm sad as I could tell the time too etc. but that was 40 yrs ago.
South Uist, Inverness-shire, Scotland:- Bowie, Campbell, Cumming, Currie

Ireland:- Cullen, Flannigan (Derry), Donahoe/Donaghue (variants) (Cork), McCrate (Tipperary), Mellon, Tol(l)and (Donegal & Tyrone)

Newcastle-on-Tyne/Durham (Northumberland):- Harrison, Jude, Kemp, Lunn, Mellon, Robson, Stirling

Kettering, Northampton:- MacKinnon

Canada:- Callaghan, Cumming, MacPhee

Hi,
I have not been on Rootschat for a while, but thought I would mention that for those who had ancestors travel to South Australia on the Hercules I do have some info on some families, and wow!  are they intertwined.
In particular I have info on several of those buried at White Hut Gaelic Cemetery, near Clare, SA where several of the Hercules families farmed.
If of interest check out the FB page "Friends of the White Hut Gaelic Cemetery"
My connections are through the Emigrant family of Archibald and Ann MacLean/McLean.
Cheers,
Tania
