I am trying to find the burial place of Sarah Davey Lavis/Lavies who died on 28th August 1882 at  Bryncethin, St Brides Major Bridgend, please has anyone any idea of the cemetery where she is buried or how I can find this information?

Thank you for your time, best wishes Bethan

Hello Bethan,
1881 c. shows family living in Bryncethin Six Acers Houses in the parish of ST. Brides MINOR. Children born in Aberfenfig.
You could ask the Burials Officer at Bridgend County Council, Angel Street, Bridgend to see if they could help with any records or suggest the nearest cemetery where you could look up the details.

Hi Humpty thank you for your advice, but I am wary of asking the burial officer to do a search as I read on one of the council websites that it costs £28 for them to do a lookup, and as I am only searching for Sarah Lavis for a friend I am not in the position to fund that search!
I was hoping that someone on here from that area would have the records for local cemeteries, I myself have the records for three cemeteries in my area and often do lookups for people.
Thank you anyway for your help, you have been very kind.

Best Wishes Bethan

Hello again Bethan,
I knew where my relative was buried but didn't know the area in the cemetery and the clerk at the cemetery looked up the details on the computer and told me exactly where it was, even took me there! But , of course, you don't know which cemetry. Would it be worth you taking a guess and looking in each cemetery? There is a list of local ones on the Bridgend County web site.

Moderator comment: topics merged as this part is still a request and not an offer!

I have already put this post in Glamorgan requests, but looking at this page I realise that I might have put it in the wrong place.
I am looking for the burial place of Sarah Lavis who died 28th August 1882 in Bryncethin St. Brides Minor Bridgend, I noticed on this forum that there were offers to do lookups for Llangynwd and Maesteg cemeteries and I think these are in the vicinity of Bridgend, I would be very grateful if anyone can check these cemeteries for me or give me an idea of any other cemeteries that were operational in 1882.

Thank you for your interest, best wishes Bethan

Hi Bethen.
I would discount Llangynwd and Maesteg cemeteries as that would mean a 14 mile round trip and in 1882 that would be some trip, Bridgend council cemetery did not come into existence until 1889, I would think  she would be buried in the Parish Church of St Brides in Aberkenfig, I did have a quick look but unfortunately it is very overgrown and  it was raining on the day.

Thank you West for you're interest it was really kind of you to take a look for me, this cemetery sounds promising, when we get a good day weather wise I will try and get my hubby to take me there, he thinks he knows where it is as he used to work at St Athans.

Thank you again for your help you are a star

Very Best Wishes Bethan
