James Hagen/Ann Reid 1866
« on: Sunday 23 August 09 20:48 BST (UK) »
Hi

I hve come unstuck in my family tree search. I am looking for details of James Hagen who married Ann Reid in Taughboyne in February 1866. I have fortunately had someone try to look up some info with no success. I was wondering if anyone out there had these two in their family tree's?

James and Ann moved to Glasgow c1869 and had 11 of a family.

Many Thanks

Laurence

Hello Laurence,

the marriage looks to be on the Family Search pilot site but is showing as 1867.
The references look to match so it does look good and you could then send for the marriage certificate.

IGI lists some of the children, including one born Oct.1867 in Glasgow wich may be reason the year of the marriage was put down as 1866. However, it is a submitted record and would need to be checked against the actual birth certificate to make sure.
There's also an Elizabeth born 1867 in Glasgow listed in IGI and one born 1877 in Pedigree Resource File who died in Scotland but her birthplace is listed as Co. Tyrone. Submitter's details listed.
See www.familysearch.org and do a search on advanced search page wit names of parents only.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Taughboyne Parish, although in County Donegal, is in Londonderry Registration District
You can obtain marriage cert - (James Hagan/Annie Reed married Feb 28 1867) from Registrar of BMD in Letterkenny - this will give their fathers' names

Hi Derrylass

Thanks for the info. As I am pretty new to this, is it the link below that I should use? If not, would you be kind enough to guide me please?

Yes that is the Central Registrar of BMD for Ireland though I prefer dealing with Letterkenny; staff there are most helpful.

All queries and payment can be handled over the telephone, while you wait.

Request a photocopy of entry; it is cheaper and is a photocopy of original entry.
