Hello,
I am researching my late Father in laws time with 42nd RTR,
(Lance Corporal and then) Sergeant George Frederick Sherrington 6142159.
He joined the 7th (23rd London) BN The East Surrey Regiment 01/12/1937 at Clapham Junction and after their time in training embarked with the regiment on the SS Arronda. We believe he was in C Squadron and baring two spells posted to Hospital on the X(IV) list was there throughout the campaign until 01/11/1944.
We have records from both the Tank Museum and The National Archives, as well as a number of photos but are keen to find out more. In the pictures we have are a number of his pals, Bert Rowe, Justin A G 'Jagger's' Long, Jimmy Crowther, Bob Watkins, Wally 'Desert Wally' Winter, Bobby Ford, Vernon Rowe, Sammy Reeves amongst others.
I would be interested to hear any feedback and more information, and for any relatives of the above comrades, we could share our scanned photos.
