William CAMERON b 1877
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 16:22 BST (UK) »
Can anyone find my rellie William Cameron? He was related to Higgins/Kelso & ended up marrying (I think Matilda Kelso/Higgins. He had two more children with her in 1912 and 1915. In the 1911 census it shows that the Higgins tribe of the 1901 census have all changed their names to Cameron after the death of their father Alexander/David Higgins in England in 1912. William was listed as a boarder to the family with the word 'relation' written next to his name in 1901. He was born in Greenock, Renfrewshire in 1877 like the rest of my rellies of that time. I cant find his birth family to work out just who he was related to! Can anyone please put me out of my misery??? :'( Thanks in anticipation).

hi wiggo53
what are the names of William's children
do any of them have a middle name that may give some clues
there is one William Richie Cameron (submitted entry though should be treated with caution) on IGI with a birth date 1877
Parents are Hugh Hutton Cameron and Margaret Young
there are only a few born around the same time
on SP there is only one born 1877 but sorry I dont have any credits to view it

Hi Elaine,  I think you have the right William. His children, born to Matilda, were named Florence A, born 4th quarter 1912 Nantwich 8a 570 and Anne Mck  born 3rd quarter 1915 Prescot 8b 1262.

On second looks, WIlliam died 16/3/1970 aged 78 in plot 12c grave 4644. I still cant work out how he was related to the Higgins or Kelso clan.
Many thanks, once again for helping me out of this conundrum!

Hi Martin,
I hope you are right and that we are related. The information I have tells me that William was born in Greenock, Renfrewshire in 1877 and had children with Matilda Kelso in 1912 and 1915. Matilda was my grandmother's mother (my great grandma, Ellen Mona). Where does your mum fit into all of this?

Hello all - while it's great that you have found a link, can I just gently remind you not to post details of anyone who might still be living, due to concerns about identity theft etc?

When you have posted a couple of times you can use the Personal Message system for this part of your "conversation".

I also have CAMERON and KELSO relatives, but I don't think we're related, sadly!

Kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

oh my gosh! I am so glad you have replied,
I have only just checked and did not realise you replied so soon.

Ok so we have never sorted this out before so bare with us. :-[

Ok so Matilta Kelso was my nans grandmother and she had a daughter that is also Matilda which is my nans mother, Matilda pountain. My mum wants to inform you that she, with her mum,dad and grandad william cameron lived at 16 margaret street, Widnes, Cheshire in 1953-4 as this is when my mum was born and did not live there for long. but her mum and the others lived there longer and this is the reason for why we think that this is the same family as to yours. We have information after matilda and and henry pountain also for you, so we can see if it tallys with your info.

Thanx for getting back to us.
