I do love the way some records are transcibed (they did Scalty as Leatty for one I saw- and the original is crystal clear!).
'Lissamore' is Lissaghmore townland in Agivey Parish, not far from Cullycapple. 1831 Census for Lissaghmore shows a Thos. Gillen head of household with 3 males, 3 females (all R.C.).
Lissaghmore comes under the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers and their Notes on Tenants (1863) give the following:
-Thomas Gillan (6 acres 3 rods 10 perches) annual rent £4 12s. Son, his wife and their 3 children. Poor place and people.
- Andrew Gillan (6 acres 2 rods 10 perches) £4 annual rent. And son. Poor people and a miserable place.

Many thanks for the info, all helps build a picture.
I now know where Lissaghmore is, would you know if there was a RC church there at the time.
One of the most fascinating aspects of family history for me are the social and economic conditions prevalent at the time that affected every aspect of our ancestors life. Do you know of any local history publications about the area in the mid 1800S?
Thanks again any further info or suggestions gratefully received
Best

The chapel at Cullycapple that I mentioned earlier covers Agivey Parish (built 1890s). Earlier chapel was in the townland of Mullaghinch but in between mass was held in Dick Toy's barn until paperwork to build at Cullycapple was sorted out.
For some local history of the area there are Ordnance Survey Memoirs reprinted a few years ago (can't remember volume number and my copy's downstairs at the moment) and Dr. Mullin's book "Aghadowey A Parish and Its Linen Industry" published in 1972 (out of print, copies no longer available).

Aghadowey
Thank you, still coming to terms with the geography of the area.I have ordered a copy of the OS and found some of Dr Mullin's book transcribed on the net. Are there any Gillen, Quigg or Bradley's still in the area that you know of?
Thanks again for the info

Aghadowey book was published in 1972 and is out of print. Second-hand copies (rare as hen's teeth now) go for about £50 when they turn up!
