JayG is right it is only marriage certificates that you are likely to get a photo copy of the original certificate, birth and deaths you may get an original copy but it is typewritten.

When they started issuing scanned copies of marriage certs from Bishop Auckland RO I asked if the births & deaths would be the same. The answer was yes, but not until the online indexes had been complete, as these are a long way off we'll be waiting a while for these
