Hi

You can order direct from the General Register Office itself for 7 GDP (if you know the references ie Qtr, Vol no & Page no).

Hello Cilla. If the certificates that you require are from the Durham area and you have the dates etc go to Durham records in Durham city.
You can then print off the church entries for Baptism marriages etc for 20p (may be a bit more now)
You will get virtually the same information-as as the bought certificates.

Thanks for that. By the records office do you mean county hall? Because i think you need a appointment there not sure

I think it is 50p now from Durham Records Office.

And you have to book for a fitche reader, but there are only open Monday-thursday, shut Fri, Sat, Sun.

Hello Cilla. Yes that is County Hall. Even if you can not get to County Hall, give then a ring and like I said before, if you have the name and date they will photo copy them and post them to your address.
The last time they did it for me it was £2.50 and that is still cheaper than ordering the certificate.
It is only a phone call and the staff are very helpful
