Still looking for information on the Hannah M who married John Henry Payne around 1877 - she was born in Walton on the Naze in  1854 and I cannot find any information on her parents.  They lived in Maldon after marriage.

The problem with Hannah is that I don't know her maiden name.

The marriage to Hannah Smith, I already have found, but it seems that my mother is adamant that this was not her maiden name, but unfortunately at 89 years of age she cannot remember what it was!!  Thanks for the efforts anyway

It is a possibility that this is correct.  Thanks for finding it.  This is the first mention of Cresswell that I've found.  I'll try to work on that one.
