Think there might be too many syllables in Portadown.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Some suggestions:

Battletown, Wexford
Batterstown, Meath
Bottomstown, Knockainy, Limerick
Bohernore/Bohermore, Knocklong, Limerick (not an official townland, but an area of the town)

and Derrybrock - there's one in Queen's County (Laois) and one in Mayo.

There's a birth of a Michael Duggan, with father Michael, in the RC parish of Knocklong in 1839, which fits with the 1861 census entry above.

Nothing conclusive there though.

have you found any of the family in later census returns ?

The 1911 data is particularly good for placenames as the form available is the original sheet filled in by the head of household, rather than the version rewritten by the enumerator in earlier returns.

Hi,
thanks for the leads. Will look into them. The marriage is the correct one. How do I get hold of the 1911 census? That sounds like it's worth a look,
Thanks,
Travlet

Hi,
Have just had a quick look at the free search on 1911census.co.uk and it turned up no results. Would paying be likely to turn up more results?
Thanks,
Travlet

As far as I remember the search is free but only gives the basic complete results.

there are various search options for allowing name and spelling variations that are probably worth looking into.
