HELP - marriage certificates, Ireland

Hi,
I was trying to order the marriage certificate of my grandparents, so that I could find out their names, from the GRONI website. Their names were John Gray and Lucinda Isabella Chapman, and they were married on 28/04/1920 in Killeevan, Monaghan, Ireland. Unfortunately I needed to know the name of the Church and the Place of marriage. Killeevan and Monaghan were not options for Place of marriage and it would not accept Killeevan for name of church. I looked on google and all I could find was the Roman Catholic church in Killeevan, and that was definitely not it!
Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Monaghan is in the Republic of Ireland so GRONI will not have the records - you need to try GROI in Co Roscommon

You do not need place and date of marriage if you provide district, year/quarter, volume and page number from the Civil Registration Indexes.  You can find these references for ordering certificates on the Irish Civil registration index at this website.

 Please note the search engine is temperamental so just search for name and use the filter buttons at the top of the results page to sort by location/event/date/etc.

GROI will provide a "Research copy" of the cert for €4 - this is a scan/photocopy of the original register entry (uncertified) and you can see you ancestors' actual signatures.

Thanks. Does the research copy provide parents' names. I looked at the form on GROI and it has a star next to the mother's maiden name and I don't know that. I found Lucinda's birth record on the familysearch link but that does not show mother's name, and I don't see an option for the volumes etc. on the form.

the form from the GRO is not really designed for order using the index details - just fill in the the following details on the form wherever you can fit them (or attach on a separate note)

 Name
 record type (e.g marriage)
 registration district
 year/quarter (older records dont require a quarter)
 volume number and page

The details included on Irish Civil marriage certs are :

date and place of marriage
full names ages & occupations of bride and groom
(age usually stated as 'full')
status of bride and groom - i.e. single, widower etc
current residence of bride and groom
father's names and occupations

Thanks, I found those but I'm still a bit unsure of how you order them. On the marriage forms it says PPS number, what's that? I also found an emigration record for Anna Chapman, one of Lucinda's sisters, who emigrated to New York at the age of 10! Was that unusual? Do you think she went with family or someone else? How would I find that out? The parents definitely stayed in Ireland. Thanks Shane, but on the forms I downloaded from the home page there isn't an option for volume number and page.

dont worry about the PPS number  - it's is the tax/social security reference number - not required for research certs.

just fill  the order form with your details and credit card or payment, put the index details I mentioned above on a separate note and attach to the order form.

Hi,
   I would suggest that you fill in what you can on the official form and add the details as Shane described on a seperate piece of paper and send that off. Do not mention where you got the information, they can be touchy about that.
