Childrens Homes 1930's Cornwall
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 15:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
I'm new to the site and am looking for any information on children's homes in the Cornwall area in the 1930's. My dad and some of his siblings were put into a home/s when the family split. I know one of the daughters went into a workhouse and the eldest son had to work. I have found a National Children's home in Newquay but can't get any info on it. I am trying to find my dad who left our family 46 years ago. The last address I have is from 1964.
Any help on the children's home would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Jacquie

Hello

I'm browsing Rootschat forum for just the information you needed about the National Childrens Home in Newquay, Cornwall..

My cousin's wife's father was orphaned in 1920 and sent there with his brother to live.  They were two of the boys sent to Canada from there.

I wonder, did you ever find out anything at all about records etc?

Love to hear from you
All the best
