Wilton Parish records for BUKER
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 10:55 BST (UK) »
I believe the baptismal record 1778 in the above parish for William BUKER son of John amd Susanna BUKER may be my family connection. Grateful if someone could tell me if there is any further information given. Or any other record of BUKER (BOWKER) in this parish.
Thanks
Jan

Thanks for that. I,m not sure now, The IGI shows BUKER but I am well aware of misspellings from the various handwritings. I also note the number of BAKER's in Wilton.

The parish record showed Baker. but if you are unsure I imagine the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre would confirm and/or provide a copy of the record.   Contact may be made by e-mail archives[at]wiltshire.gov.uk or telephone 01249 705500.

Unusually, the record had Mr and Mrs for the parents.

Thanks again for your help. I am actually researching BOWKER (with variants) and I know that the Sth African settler Miles Bowker farmed for some years near Wilton before emigrating.
I also note your TROW interest.
I am helping a TROW family here in NZ research their family back through the Aaron's 1879 and 1849
to Richard m Elizabeth JONES (COLLINS) . Do you connect to this line.?
Jan.

I don't know.   I have had great difficulty in tracing the Trow ancestors.   My great great grandmother was Jane Trow born Berriew, Montgomeryshire 1836.   She married Joseph renfrey 1856 and died Aberystwyth in 1899.   For more details go to http://davierj.tribalpages.com/ or follow my link to The Welsh Connection.

Thanks for that.
I don't see a connection. These TROWS were in the Forden & Churchstoke areas.

Although on the face of it, Trow would seem to be an unusual name, there are many different families in Montgomeryshire and over the border in England.   So far I've not been able to find any information about my gggrandmother Jane Trow's family apart from her father Joseph who in 1856 was a butcher.

Possibly the Trow families are connected but I've not been able to establish any links.
