help please with message from ancestry
« on: Wednesday 19 August 09 20:04 BST (UK) »
I have just left Ancestry and moved to Find my past, and today I received a message from someone through Ancestry concerning a branch of my tree, unfortunately I cannot reply. Would some kind person who is a member of Ancestry be able to send a reply for me???

  Many thanks for any help

Janet, excuse my jumping into your thread, but could I please ask if you think that Find my Past is worth giving  up my Ancestry  for.

I have received my renewal today from Ancestry for which they are asking £107.40 membership.
Find my Past is only £87/9. odd,  big difference?

I was debating between the two, so came on here to ask someones advice, and saw your post..
                         Thanks Dolly.

hi Dolly,

I have only just moved over to Find my past and still new to the site, the reason I changed from Ancestry was I had been with them for many years and felt I had covered most areas of my research on there, so far the parish records on Find my Past have been very helpful to me but I am still finding my way around the site. I would say that both sites are very good. If you give Find my past a try, you can always switch back to Ancestry after twelve months if you don't like it.

In fact you can join FindMyPast for 6 months so if you didn't like it, its not too long to wait to switch back.

I've advised my friend to join FindMyPast as I am on Ancestry so that between us we'll have access to more records  ;)

I subscribe to both, but tend to use FindMyPast more and will probably give up on Ancestry next time it's due for renewal.

Thank you all for the replies.

Seems that FindMyPast is catching up on Ancestry now.

I have until Sep 8th on Ancestry, methinks it's time for change!

                                                           Thanks Dolly.

Helloo,

Is it different when you live in England?

I live in Australia and can't afford either Ancestry or FindMyPast due to the exchange rate. I am an unpaid subsciber to Ancestry where I have my trees and can do basic  restricted searches etc.

I receive email contact re my trees and I am able to reply to them. I would have thought that unless you deleted all your inforamtionm etc you should still be able to reply to contacts about your trees.

regards

Robyn
