Hello Suejay,

I am not related to John McKie & Marion Oliver but my Callans are connected. Maggie Oliver McKie married 1. William Callan 1905 Girvan, 2. William Blyth 1921 Cumnock. Olive McKie married William Callan 1929 Gretna.

Hi ambyrne1

I have just discovered that my 5th gt grandmother was born in Kirkoswald - Sarah Niven (or Nivan) and her father was John Niven.  Sarah was born (IGI and OPR SP) Oct 1756.

From the marriage OPR (SP) in 1785, "Sarah Niven dau of the deceased John Niven late smithright, Ayr"

There are numerous siblings listed on my search results on SP which I need to check out, but to date I have not discovered who John Niven's wife was.

I just wondered, please, whether you have any Nivans on your MI?

Thanks in anticipation ...

Westwood,

There are a good few Niven's in Kirkoswald.. I will give you what might be John Niven....

This stone is erected by Adam Niven farmer in Diltammy in memory of his son John d. 23 March 1778 aged 36y. Also William Niven his sone D. Aug 1754 aged 6 y, Also Janet Arthur spouse to the said Adam Niven d. 01 Sep 1782 aged 78yrs. Also here lyes the corps of the said Adam Niven d.  Jul 1785 aged 78 yrs.

There is another John Niven but a little after 1785.
If you want me to give you all the Nivens give me a shout.. It will take me awhile to type them in .

Hi Ann Marie

The discovery of my Niven family, Kirkoswald is relatively new so if I may, please, come back to you when I have some more Christian names, that would be great.

I have a feeling that my John Niven may have married several times, but at the moment, I am not sure.

Thanks again

Kind regards

Hi,

I have obtained the lists of graves and what each grave states for Girvan, Maybole and Kirkoswald Cemeteries. If anyone would like a lookup for these graves then please post here.

Hi, interested in Ayr information.  Trying to find McLatchie and Brac(k)enridge data, also some links to Gray family that could tie in to your queries.  John McLatchie m Mary Brackenridge  1842 in Maybole. Helen Johnston McLatchie born 1843, James born 1850, may have died in infancy.  Mother Janet (Porter) McLatchie died 1855, buried Kirkoswald, husband John McClatchie died 1840, prob buried there as well.  Other McLatchie data would be of interest.
Mary Brackenridge, supposedly born 1818 St Quivox, can't find parents, but other Brackenridge in the area.  Mary and Margaret Brackenridge listed as servants 1841 in Maybole could be only link I have.
Thanks, Gary    ;)

Hi

I would be very interested if you come across any McConnell family burials in any of the cemetries, I know David McConnell and his wife Marion Bone lived in Kirkoswald and surrounding area from 1802, they had several children who seem to have stayed in the area.
Any help appreciated, if and when you have time
Thanks
