Hi Ann Marie,

I wonder if I could also take advantage of your generous offer!

Does your list for Maybole have any information on a James Edgar, either a shoemaker or cartwright's labourer and his wife, Jane Edgar ms Edgar?  They married in Maybole 1858, so assume that they were born around 1835 - 1840.

The family seem to have connections to a place called 'Greenside' and James and Jane's descendants were still in Maybole in the early 1900s.

Best wishes

Hi Rockford,

Sorry James and Jame are not in Maybole. There are a couple of other Edgar's but not the mentioned ones.

Good Luck

Thank you for looking - it's greatly appreciated!  It's another avenue to cross off the list.

I have a Thomas Girvan DUNBAR came to Australia from Maybole. His parents were John DUNBAR and Elizabeth Craig perhaps this couple are buried there?
Thomas was married to Mary Agnes HEMPKIN also to OZ, toghether with 3 kids,  her parents Thomas HEMPKIN and Mary TAIT from Maybole although both sets of parents "seem"to have come from Ireland maybe maybe not ? The Dunbar name seems Scottish and of the area.
If someone can spot them in a cemetery in /around Maybole it would be a wonderful help.
Thanks Hely

Hi Hely,

You dont have any dates so here is what I have, I have an Elizabeth Craig d. Society St 28 Aug 1927 aged 87 years.  (more people in this grave if you want it)
Elizabeth Craig d. Ashton Greenock 11 Feb 1886 husband Robert Allen.

There are no Dunbar's at all in Maybole old Cemetery. Also no Hempkin's or Tait's by those names. I also checked Kirkoswald and nothing.

Sorry

Hi there, I have got Tait's in my family, the earliest being my GGGG grandfather John Tait who was born c1760 in Ireland, he married Janet Boyce also from Ireland.  They had 3 sons Samuel b1781 in Girvan, Ayrshire, Robert b 1787 in Girvan and John b 1795 in Ireland.  All 3 sons had daughters called Mary.  Samuel's daughter Mary was born 1812 in Girvan.  Robert's Mary b1816 in Girvan and John's Mary b1832 in Girvan.  Let me know if this is of any help

No direct ties but I have the feeling in time these amy all be family whith the moving between Ireland and Scotland.

Here is what I have George Tait b1761 Ireland.   Had Mary Tait 1805 Ireland married Thomas Hempkin b 1801 Ireland Died ? Scotland .
Had Mary Agnes Hempkin b 1832 Maybole married a Dunbar in Maybole  and came to Australia with 3 of the first kids in a large family.
I have their names if it comes to it.
She died in Rockhampton QLD OZ 1912.  Their daughter Elizabeth came with them about 9yrs and married John Davis my husbands gg grandfather.
So it seems to me there might be a tie up, it would be interesting why the Ireland ..Scotland moving.  Work to be done  lol let me know how it goes!
Thanks for your answer.  Helyne
