Warwick/Warrick family in Pontypridd area
« on: Tuesday 18 August 09 20:12 BST (UK) »
I am researching the Warwick/Warrick family tree. I have a Stephen Warrick born about 1837 in Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire who was on the 1861 census in Wales who married Elizabeth Morris in 1862 in the district of Brecknock. I have them recorded as having six chidren.

William born 1862, Llandefalle, Breconshire
Stephen born 1863, Llanwern, Breconshire
Thomas born 1870, Llanwern, Breconshire
John born 1872, Llandefalle, Breconshire
Mary A born 1875, Sirhowey, Monmouthshire
Elizabeth born 1877, Sirhowey, Monmouthshire

I have Stephen, Thomas and Elizabeth recorded as having married and having children.

Are you descended or connected to any of the above Warwick/Warrick family?

After 1900 the family were in the district of Ponypridd. I have taken Stephen's line back to 1540. If you think you have a connection, please contact me. I am willing to exchange information.

Hi Martin (from Australia)  I don't know if you got my last message but I am related to Stephen Warrick.  He is a direct descendant on my mothers side.  She comes down from Thomas Warrick (son of Stephen) who married Martha Ann Carey.  My grandmother was Ethel May Warrick who married Redvers Frederick Buller Evans.  They originated from Furneux Pelham in Herfordshire and ended up in Wales.  Would love to hear from you and swap information.  Regards Pamela

Hi Pamela

This is the first message I have received from you. Thank you for getting in touch.

I have carried out extensive research on the Warwick / Warrick family tree and have taken Stephen's line back to the 1500's. Were you aware that his brother moved from Furneux Pelham to Wales and married a girl from Lampeter, Cardiganshire.

I am willing to exchange information.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Martin

Yes had an idea that the other may have gone astray because I'm only new to this posting board.  I wasn't aware of the brother going to Lampeter only know about the line I descend from which, as I mentioned is from Stephen's son Thomas who was born at Breconshire in 1870.  He married Martha Carey (her line originated in Ireland) and they had several children one of which was my grandmother Ethel May Warrick born in 1900.  The other children of Thomas and Martha were Thomas George born about 1891, William Henry born about 1896, John born about 1898, Stephen born about 1903 Elizabeth Ann born about 1905 and Stanley born about 1907.
You probably have the children of Stephen and Elizabeth (neeMorris) if not they were William born about 1862, Stephen born about 1864, Elizabeth A. born 1868, John born about 1872, Mary A born about 1875 and Elizabeth born about 1877.  I think the first Elizabeth may have died.  I have a photo of Martha Carey (or Warrick as she became) but none of the Warrick side of the family.  Thomas & Martha lived in Bedwelty, Sirhowy and Eglwysilian and he died in 1943 (I think).
I pressume from what I know that they were occupied in agriculture before moving to Wales around the time the industrial revolution really took off.  Would love to know more about them and look forward to reply.  Regards Pamela

Hi Pamela

I have not been on Rootschat for a little while, so I have been reviewing my posts and see that you had posted a reply in 2010, unfortunatley I did not get the heads up in my e mail inbox, otherwise I would have replied.

Your information confirms my research. Do you have any further information on your grandmother Ethel May Warwick's brothers and sisters and their families ? I do have some of them married with children.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Hi Shirley

I have two Warwick / Warrick boys who moved to Wales. The boys were brothers. Alfred born about 1832, who moved to Wales in the early 1850's and married in the district of Lampeter in 1858. To date I have him and his wife with five children, with a marriage for at least one of their children. The other Warwick boy to move to Wales was Stephen, born about 1837, both were born in Furneux Pelham, Hertfordshire. I think Alfred and Stephen both went to Wales about the same time. Not sure if this had anything to do with their mother remarrying. Stephen married in 1862 in the district of Brecknock, Wales and he and his wife had at least nine children, I have at least three of those children getting married. From my research it would appear that neither Alfred or Stephen ever returned back to Furneux Pelham.

Alfred and Stephen were the sons of James Warwick and Ann Hardy. James was the brother of Abraham Warwick who died in 1892.

Hope this helps, any further questions about the Warwick's please do not hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin and Shirley, if you are still out there.  I can confirm that Stephen Warrick never returned to Furneaux Pelham and neither did his brother. Cheers  Pamela

Hi Pamela

I am still out here, still chasing the Warwick line, always looking for new avenues to research. Thank you for letting me know they never returned to Furneux Pelham.
