Hi Susano,
Re:James Bertram being married to Amy Burden, of that I'm not sure but, on the Mountain View Cemetary records website there is a Amy Worsley d: April 1921.  Both deaths have the same number after them...
1919/*/B/001/0015

Would this be the grave or plot number ??

Hi Debbie

I think the numbers are the locators for the gravesite.  Check out this site for information on how to use the cemetery map to locate the plot...you probably have found this info already.

http://vancouver.ca/commsvcs/NONMARKEtOPERATIONS/MOUNTAINVIEW/map.htm

There is a marriage for a Nellie Worsley and Robert Ball in Vancouver on June 3, 1920....maybe this is your Nellie.  Did Nellie have a middle name?  Do you know when she came to Canada?  Do you have the parents' names for James and Nellie?

I don't mind looking up the registrations....would be nice if we could find Nellie as well as James.

Susan

Debbie

Birth record:  September quarter 1883 - James Bertram Worsley
District :  Chorlton     Ref:  8c827
(Hulme was part of Chorlton)

You can order the birth certificate from
www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates

From the information on the certificate you can cross reference the address to the various censuses to check other siblings.  This might help determine who emigrated and who stayed.

From your posting, I wasn't sure what information you needed as you already knew the rough date of birth and the place.  Was it just confirmation of what you found?

If I can help further please let me know.

Debbie

The following might be useful:

Lancashire 1891:

Worsley James bc 1852  Head  Plasterer
Hannah                 1860  Wife
William                   1879  Son Office boy
James                    1884  Son
Frank                     1886  Son
Nellie                     1891  Daughter

56 Queens Street, Ardwick, Chorlton

Lancashire 1901:

Worsley James bc 1852  Head  Metal Planer Machinist
Hannah                 1855  Wife
William                   1879  Son    Steam engine fitter maker
James                    1884  Son    Iron turner fitter
Frank                     1888  Son    Warehouse errand boy port
Nellie                     1891  Daughter
Joseph                   1900  Son

148 Queens Road, Ardwick, Chorlton

I found I could access emigration details but not the full records but the following might help:

James Worsley born c. 1883  Emigrated 10 Oct 1920  (Probably this one is too late?) Ship: Megantic
to Quebec from Liverpool

James Worsley born c. 1884  26 July 1907  Virginian  to Quebec from Liverpool

Frank Worsley born c. 1887 9 July 1911  Tunisian Quebec from Liverpool
Nellie Worsley born c. 1881 (birth date 10 years out!) 2 Aug 1912  Empress Quebec from Liverpool
James Worsley born c. 1884 26 July 1907  Virginian Quebec from Liverpool

Also an Ellen (Nellie?) Worsley born c. 1881 (the date is still out!) 24 Sept 1909 Virginian Quebec from Liverpool

Is there a kind member out there who has full access to these records who could help Debbie a little more??

The emigrations are all within a few years so could be the correct ones.  There was no sign of William or Joseph emigrating.

Hi Debbie

Are you aware of the Worsley Family Tree on Ancestry?  There is not much about James Bertram or Nellie but quite a bit about Frank and descendants.  It does show Nellie's occupation as machinist in the 1911 Census and James's occupation of turner on 1901 Census, which leads me to entries I found on passenger lists.

Kellie Worsley (I think mistranscribed...looks like Nellie to my on the image) b abt 1891 sailed aboard the Melita from Liverpool to Quebec, arriving July 20, 1919.  Record states she was destined for Victoria, BC to her brother on farm, RMD No 1 Sydney, to help on the farm; occupation noted as machinist.  (Sidney is a community a short distance from Victoria, BC)

I also found an entry which might be promising for James b abt 1884.  Sailed aboard the Virginian from Liverpool to Quebec, arriving July 26, 1907.  Record states he was destined for Toronto and occupation was Turner.

I'm off to the FHS library now so will see what certificates of BC Vital events I can find for your James and Nellie.

I will let you know later today.

Regards, Susan

In UK certainly when Dad died in 1990s place of birth was put on, but for mothers in 1980 it didn't.
