it is listed in Thom's on 1914 as :

  Hollyfield - buildings
   Upper Rathmines.
    Artisans' Dwellings.
      120 small houses

   (no occupant details included)

I'll see if I can work out a more detailed location..

Hollyfield buildings was between Frankfort Ave and Maxwell road on Rathmines Rd upr. The closest location on a current map is Rathmines Close.

google map : http://www.rootschat.com/links/06x6/

The 1914 street listing for upper Rathmines includes -

..Frankfort Ave
75 & 76Joseph Hanley, garage & Taxis
77Mrs. M. Free, station & postoffice
....
91Mrs. J  M'Donnell, family grocer
..Tranquilla National Schools
..Hollyfield Buildings
99Mrs. Riddick
..
105John R. Gahan
..Maxwell Road
106Mrs. Daly, Salem House

I am not certain which side of the road the buildings were on - I know that Tranquilla School is on the east and both Maxwell Rd and Frankfort Ave are on the West

The buildings were tenements by the 1960s and 70s and in very bad condition - I suspect they were demolished soon after. See Daíl Eireann debates :

update : they were demolished and have replaced with Council houses (thanks to jeangenie on Dublin.ie).

Good work, Shane

OS maps of the period show that Hollyfield Buildings was indeed on the W side of Upper Rathmines Road, slightly north of a point opposite Tranquilla.

Thanks for the replies. The family lived at no. 15  Hollyfield buildings until at least 1920s. Margarets father Robert McVeeney passed away there 1921.  What is Thoms you mentioned - can anyone look at it? Thanks again i'll have a look at map. Cheers Edith
