Thanks again for all the help. I have ordered a copy of John and Susan's marriage certificate which will hopefully confirm his parent's names. I have emailed Stafford to see if I can get any more info on the court case. I will drop you a line on what I find.

John's father was indeed Robert. Interestingly the marriage to Susan was not witnessed by Robert but by a Richard Love.

Interesting might be another brother but looking on the census there isnt anyone of that name until 1878 and he is a Richard Robert Love son of Thomas b 1841 Brosley (Johns brother?)

Hi Willow,

I was hoping you may be able to assist. I have done some more investigating and according to the 1841 census Robert and Elizabeth had a daughter called Ann, 15, Samuel, 10 and John and Rebeccca both aged 5, therefore born 1836

Now on the 1851 census John is not registered at home but Rebecca is and is classed as 15. John is on the 181 census but is shown as being 28 and therefore born 1833. I have found a John Love on the 1851 census and he is 18.

What do you think?

Hiya Kevin

I think they are the right ones I've found that they are a little sloppy with ages on the 1841 census. I know they were supposed to round ages up for adults but they were often a bit out with the childrens as well

Of the IGI John is baptised 1833 so that would fit

Though one of mine that appears on a certain site as being 106 is way out! (He was 6 theres a mark on the page lol)

Thanks Willow, it certainly fits. Looks like a trip to the NA may be needed to look for the court records re John as they cannot be obtained online ( unless I want to spend a minimum of £60)

Rebecca was still at home with Robert and Elizabeth in 1851 and then at home with Elizabeth in 1861 where Elzabeth was head of the household.

Thanks again for all your help.
