                I have started this week to research my Bowers family tree. It seems that my grandfather Arthur was the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Bowers.(1881 Census)  If this is true I can confirm that he did not die in a mining accident. In 1902 he was in the S.Staffs Regiment in  South Africa. In 1940's he was a miner at the valley Pit in Hednesford and lived at Church Hill Hednesford.  Have not yet confirmed his date of death but think it was  1953 ish.
Any information you can give me about any of the Bowers family would be appreciated.  I have a little  information on Arthurs son  Raymond, my father.

Hi Cousin

I did wonder about Arthur as I couldn't find his name on any of the mining accident lists.
My line is through Arthur's sister Edith Bowers who then married Thomas Clarke and lived in Stockport.  My mother Elizabeth Ann is the only surviving child, now aged 98 of their 6 children.

I have followed Elizabeth's Bowers (nee Dilworth) line back to her Cheshire roots so can let you have that info, although Joseph is much more elusive.

If you have had more than 3 posts I can send you a personal message with the details (not done that before so will have to find out how!)

                  Thanks for your prompt reply. I am however  somewhat confused (Nothing Unusual).
                 The Arthur Bowers I am tracing was the son of Elizabeth Dilworth.
                 The only Edith I have seen was the daughter of Elizabeth Critchlow.
                 Help!!
               
                 I haven't got the necessary 3 posts yet but should have in the near future.

Its ok don't worry Elizabeth Dilworth married Joseph Bowers and their children were

Edith  b1887 my grandmother
Albert b.1880
Arthur b.1876 your grandfather
Henry b.1878
Joseph b.1869
Emma b.1873
Virginia b.? or Mary Jane b.1867

Just wondering if you knew where any of the other male children of Elizabeth and Joseph went. My mum was told that Jacky Bowers,footballer for Derby County was a cousin but he was born in Scunthorpe?  I do know that the 3 girls all moved to Stockport.

If I hadn't found Rootschat I would still be at square one - its brilliant.
