commissioners of oaths
« on: Wednesday 02 March 05 13:30 GMT (UK) »
does anyone know if there is a website that lists commissioners of oaths  for particular years. the person i am looking for is william montgomery white, oath taken from a richard kernot 24th march 1914  ( date and signature on back of old bible page, marked exhibit K1, recording births of the laslett family)possibly in the london area. there's talk of an inheritance and as his wife mary sarah briere's  mother was a laslett i think the inheritance was from a laslett but need the first name to send off for a probate search. any info gratefully received, janet chard

i posted this 5 years ago so am trying to think what my train of thought was. i wondered if this could be to do with some inheritance as there was a rumour in the family about one. also i believe sometimes these bible pages were used to prove a marriage or birth etc if the documents were lost or birth not registered and a commissioner of oaths swore that he'd seen the origional entry. grateful for any info or thoughts, best wishes, janet chard
