MANCHESTER STREET MONKS COPPENHALL
« on: Friday 14 August 09 11:14 BST (UK) »
I am trying to trace my great uncle and his family whose address in 1906 was 17 Manchester Street Monks Coppenhall. There is no entry for the house on the 1911 census and I was wondering if anyone could give me any informaton about this street. His name was Herbert Cook and he was a railway labourer.
Many thanks

If you google old maps Cheshire, Coppenhall, you can find Manchester Street. It ran off
Prince Albert Street south of Earle Street(if the map is oriented to North at the top)

On the modern map it would have been where a large building backs onto Vernon Way.

Loanne, the area now occupied by the former Manchester Street is now the Law Courts and Library of the Civic Centre of Crewe.  If you look at a modern map it is to the East of Prince Albert Street (which is in the main still there)
Hope this helps

Loanne, for your references and in case you would wish to buy the source of this information.  I found it on an Old Ordnance Survey Map Crewe 1908 available from alangodfreymaps.co.uk
