Hi my great grandmother was Rosanna Taaffe nee Kavanagh, She was shot by the black and tans in 1916 in Dublin. Her son James is my grandfather who died in 1961.

Hi Joe,

here's hoping you 've set the notify option as your post was some time ago.

...a few obvious facts from your post tell me we are talking about the same woman... the fact that she was shot in 1916 and that (one of) her son(s) was James and he died in 1961

Her other surviving son was Patrick, who was my grandfather (died 1953).

Would welcome any info from your side as it would be welcome news to my mother who has lost touch with a lot of folks over the years.

Hi Tony my fathers name is also James (Jem).
I can trace back the family to about the 1840s
they lived in mecklenburgh st which is now Sean mc Dermott st
we have family still living in that area.
