Have you looked in the National Burial Register ?
If you could give us a rough time span of when he died and when he was born we may be able to find the burial.

I have just looked at the NBR but unfortunately there is no Robert Jones Whitworth  or any Robert Whitworth listed for 10years on either side of 1868. So sorry.

The register is not as yet on line I bought the disks (4) and have found them very useful more especially with 1700 and early 1800s.

Hope some kind Roots Chatter from Cheshire may be able to help.

Hi Peggytoof

I have a lot of 'Jones' Whitworths in our family tree including William Jones Whitworth born 1843 Aston under Lyne.  I cannot help with the burial but our William Jones Whitworth is buried in Bury Cemetery in 1894 along with his wife Mary Jane nee Blackburn.  There are two children of his mentioned as being born in Ashton - Mary Louise and Beatrice Annie Jones.  Maybe they are related to you.  I believe William's son, Reginald, used to live in Summerseat.
