Thanks Lestisherlvr.  Yes - Interesting name, Napthali, but thanks to the power of the internet, I now know all about it! I was planning on a visit to Medbourne in the spring or summer, and have a poke around the grave yards (and also at Barkby, where there is a KITCHEN connection (wife of Curtis)).  Is the grave marker of Naphatali visible, and do you know if there are any other Stevenson's or Curtis's there?  Are you local to the area?

Thanks arjem for the interesting story about Joseph, my 5th great grandfather, if I have it right!  How do I get access to the CRO that you describe?  Is it via a personal visit to Leicestershire.  I must admit that it's not a county that I'm familiar with.  Never though I would have family connections there...

Re the Leicestershire and Rutland County Record Office, I come from Leics originally and still have family there so am able to visit the CRO occasionally; this is how I managed to find Joe Curtis's will.  I don't know if they have a research service; try Googling them and investigating their website to see what they offer.  Or maybe the National Archives online wills includes Joseph's?
Re Withyham, yes I have ancestors there on my father's side; their name was Tomsett/Tompsett (or any other variation!) 
Are they yours by any chance?
