John Carey
« on: Saturday 08 August 09 23:14 BST (UK) »
I am in the process of unravelling information on a Carey family of Ringmer. John born abt 1802 had sons which included a Charles b. abt 1839 and William b. abt 1849. I believe that their mother was Elizabeth and may have been born IOW. I have no immediate access to PR's but believe that at least the childrens bp may be recorded under South Malling. I have no idea of John's origins though they were probably local to the Lewes area.
Can anybody help with this enquiry.

regards

keith

Their address in 1851 is Stoneham Cottages, South Malling and I think Pauline is right that he is born Alciston.   It is easy to confuse that with Alfriston.
www.freebmd.org.uk may help to find the children's births post 1837.  As far as I know South Malling is not covered by the IGI but when Chrisin1066land gets back from holiday he may be able to help as he has lots of records for the Lewes area.  There are quite a lot of Blaber entries on the IGI for the Lewes area so if the marriage is the correct one then Elizabeth may have been visiting relatives when they met.
