Hello Abi.

Sorry I can't help with your research but here is a couple of photos that I took last month.

No other reason for posting them other than thinking that they might be of interest to you.

Bridge over the river Tay at Kenmore. Shot taken from the rear veranda of the Kenmore Hotel looking westward.

Loch Tay at about 6.30pm.

Cheers.

Abi,

Childrens names suggest Anne's parents could have been John and Catherine (first daughter and second son).  The IGI has births of Elizabeth (1 April 1820) and Janet (17 Sept 1828) to John McKenzie and Catherine McCallum, both in Kenmore.  Could Anne be another child of this couple?  Where is your information that Anne was born in 1820 sourced from?

David.

Thanks so much David for your interest  :)

Anne McKenzie married my great great grandfather James Stewart August 10 1845 Kenmore Perth Scotland.

James Stewart born 31 July 1822 Fortingall Perth Scotland

1851 census James Stewart at Invercomrie Fortingall 29 years old
1861 census Mill Street Aberfeldy 39 years old (born Fortingall)

Anne with James 1851 Invercomrie 31 years old
Anne with James 1861 Mill Street Aberfeldy 40 years old (Kenmore)

I have learned in the 12 months I have been researching that records depend on the recorder and the informant  ??? :-\ ...

and the researcher's skills  :-[ :-X ::) :-[ ...

that is why I am asking for help - still learning ...

I read somewhere that family history research often confuses the dead and irritates the living.

I am afraid I have been guilty of both in past months    :-[ 8)

I thought I had this one right  :-\ ???

But no joy yet with usual strategies

Abi  :-*

Hi Abi,

I am also interested in the McKenzies in Kenmore of this period but I'm having difficulty tracing birth records.  My Gt.Gt. Grandfather was John Mckenzie, born in Kenmore c.1821, married in 1846 to Mary Ferguson, also born Kenmore c.1821.  Daughter Catherine -or possibly Christian, born Comrie c.1848.
They were all Gaelic speakers. I understand that the MacKenzies originally came from Kintail in Wester Ross.

cheers,

awwm

Hi Abi
I am looking at Stewarts . I have found James and Ann Stewart. They had 5 children as far as I can find so far.
Ctherine born on 26/11/1848,  Donald born on 27/6/1850, William born on 24/7/1855, and Duncan born on 21/1/1857.  Donald married Helen Beattie from Inveravon Morayshire. On the 1891 census they were in Balnacraig, Logierait. They had 4 children, Annie 10, Nelly 6, Margaret 3, and Jane 11 months. In the 1901 census, they were in Weem. They had Margaret 13, Jane 10, Donald 9, Elizabeth 7, John 6, Barclay 4, Isabella 2, and Jessie newborn. Donald was a gamekeeper, as was his son Donald. The were at the Killiechassie estate.
In an obituary in the Perth Advertiser dated 6/10/1948, states that Mrs Stewart died at her son's residence at Blair Atholl, and was buried from her home at the Old Rectory in Dunkeld, and was buried in the cathedral burial ground. She was survived by one son and 3 daughters, 2 of whom are abroad. Her son Donald retired from service as gamekeeper with the Duke of Atholl after 55 years service in 1968
