I think it has been suggested that in some cases the wedding ring was worn on the right hand after betrothal and transferred to the left hand on marriage.

So this photo was taken in the late 1860's early 1870's - how old do you think she is in this photo?  about 35 ish?

Yes, a copy. The copy is post mid 1880s because of the silvering-out.

I wonder if the original was an ambrotype, or a tintype. Because then the image would be reversed....

Sue, I think she's quite young - early 20's.  Very few lines on her face.

Oh my life - fancy looking like that in your 20's !!!!  yes possibly she was or her skin was very stretched !!

Its possibly a lady called hannah born abt 1862 married aged 18 lost her first husband 6 years later then remarried age 26
would she wear her 1st husbands ring on one hand and her subsequent husbands on the other ?  or is she born too late for this photo?
