It is on a postcard - communication as a heading on one side and address only on the other
square corners

I have another copy of this photo which is on paper mounted on really thick card. On the back of the card is a brown paper with the words Sketch Portrait embossed into the paper

Why it would be a burnley studio - I have no idea

So this is a copy of the original.The postcard being post 1902,maybe copied after her death.

And also she's silvering out, that's the weird shiny effect, and the silver gelatin process didn't come into general use until about 1886 or so iirc.

That tiny waistline is the result of having been forced into a whalebone and/or steel-banded corset from the age of 10 or 11. It restricted her respiration, cut off her circulation and likely gave her acid reflux. Was it worth it to look like that??

Hello ALL  Just Passing by, to put my pennyworth in.
I tend to think that it is around 1880-5's. But what took my eye is her wedding ring on her right hand. The majority of people in the UK have it on the third finger left hand.
 My wife was German and we married in Germany I still wear mine on my right hand as many others do on the Continent. Not knowing exactly with what type of camera used, it could be from a reversed negative. But I tend to think she "bless her" was either married to a foreigner, or was of Conental birth.

That the addres is in Burnley could only mean in this case that is was a copy of an earlier one taken abroad.

Just a thought, might help a little...difficult though
