An approximation of the date of the photo and age of the "subject" would be very useful

Gave it a wee try.
POSTEES: If possible, PLEASE, scan your images at 300 - 600 dpi, for both ease of restoration and best results
RESTORERS: Feel free to change/improve/colour any restorations posted by myself.  Acknowledgment would be appreciated.

An attempt from me.  It looks as if it could be a studio copy of a an earlier picture.  Is the picture reversed, or is the ring really on her right hand.

Hi everyone
Thank you very much to Charles, xin, Robert, Bill and Carolyn  you have all done a marvellous job on a very dour subject.
I don't really know who she is except that she is an ancestor of my granda - grandmother or great grandmother ?

Robert the photo is as I scanned it - I haven't turned it, so yes her wedding band is on the wrong hand - but do I get a glimpse of one on her other hand or have I got stars in my eyes  ???

I do envy her waistline !!!  Any thoughts about her age or when this could have been taken?

Going by the way her dress is buttoned the picture is the correct way round, I seem to remember it was mentioned recently on RootsChat that in Germany the wedding ring is worn on the right hand.
