Thomas Woodley and Elizabeth Deadman - Clifton Hampden

Hi Nellie,

Going back to James and Mary.  I have James Woodley b. 3 Oct 1773 in East Hagbourne, he married Mary (?) - Alan may be able to help us both with a look up on the PR's - in circa. 1803 (sorry no actual date). 

Children I have found so far for James and Mary  (in Hagbourne) :  James Woodley 22 Jan 1804; Benjamin Woodley 12 Nov 1815;  Anne Woodley 10 Dec 1817 and Isaac  Woodley 31 Oct 1819. 

I have also found the following children to James Woodley & Mary in Didcot : John 16 Feb 1802; William 21 Jan 1810; Thomas 23 Oct 1811; Joseph 25 Dec 1813; Richard 10 Nov 1805 and Sophia 7 Nov 1807. I have the feeling this is the same James and Mary for all the children although I have not been able to verify as yet. 

This may well be 'your' Thomas..  My g x grandfather was James's brother Thomas (1762).  If it is your Thomas, then I believe we share the same g x .... grandparents !

Parents for James Woodley are: Thomas Woodley & Mary Harwood. I have a post looking for info on Thomas Woodley as all I can find is his marriage to Mary Harwood (which Alan helped me with) 29 July 1761.   Kind Regards Angie

I can't find a James Woodley marrying a Mary in the Hagbourne PRs.
 
The only one  of interest is a James Woodley, 55,  W,   Publican, of East Hagbourne father William Woodley, Shepherd to Jane Ody, 52, W, of Sutton Courtney, father John Pringle, Farmer on 9th Jan 1838.
wits; Ann Woodley, Thomas Windus,    By Banns  Richard Meredith, Minister.

Could this James be the same one your looking for but in early 1800s?

That could all fit in.  The last solid evidence I have is Thomas Woodley b. c. 1811.  I stuggle flitting between windows on the computer so I will copy the info you gave me onto paper so I can see how it might fit.  The Thomas born in Didcot deff fits in so I am hoping and assuming the rest will too!

To answer Nellies's question first.. Thomas (23 Oct 1811 - Didcot)  his parents were James Woodley & Mary (?)  IGI ref  C014882 for Didcot - parents James & Mary.

Alan has been unable to find a marriage for James and Mary in Hagbourne PR's - thanks a million for your time and effort Alan looking tho'. 

James & Mary's children are as I have listed previously, it would seem from the list that they were  possibly in Didcot 1802 (possibly married there and not Hagbourne as I originally thought) and then moved to East Hagbourne.

James's parents : Thomas Woodley and Mary Harwood; married 29 July 1761 in East Hagbourne.  I have no further information for Thomas Woodley other than his marriage.

Your direct relation, if we are correct here, is James Woodley (1773) and my direct relation is his brother Thomas (1762).

Alan,  to add to this post. James's marriage in 1838 in East Hagbourne may be James son of William b. 1753 E.Hagbourne who ( I hoped) was the father of Thomas who married Mary Harwood.  Ihave been unable to connect the two.!
