Nicholson from N. Uist

Trying to find the mother of Elizabeth Nicholson, born 1811 in Balranald. Father is Donald Nicholson of Lochinver. Elizabeth married Murdoch MacDonald ( Murdo the cooper) in 1830 and lived in Kyles Paible. She died in 1898 on Heisker.

Hello, my great grand aunt married a Nicolson and was from N Uist & always thought it was an unusual surname for the area.

Her maiden name was Christina MacDougall and believe she was on St Kilda at some time. Latterly she lived in Edinburgh with her son.

I am currently tracking the MacDougall's relatives and if you know of a link the information would be much appreciated.

Ignore my ramblings as I have now sorted out that it was Christina's mother and she was from Heisker NOT St Kilda. The Nicolson that Cristina married was from Skye NOT N Uist.
Digging out information often contradicts what you are told!

There's often a lot of fact in ramblings!!

There are a lot of Nicolsons from Skye and many are related. I have found out my Nicolsons were originally from Sutherland.

I have quite a few MacDonald ancestors from Heisker.
