William Collings, Burial

I posted this on the Durham board yesterday but it could also refer to North Sunderland so I thought I'd add it here too 

I found the following in the burial records for St. Cuthbert's Church, Blyth, Northumberland.

William Collings, of Sunderland, drowned, buried 3rd Nov. 1859, age 57

I haven't managed to find him in freebmd but knowing how difficult it can be to kill off and bury the ancestors I thought I'd post this in case anyone wants to claim him.

WOW.

My g.g.g. grandfather was William Colling who was born in Sunderland, a mariner, and died sometime between the 1841 and 1851 census as his wife was remarried by 1851.  I have been having trouble finding details of his death.  I know the timescale doesnt fit this William but what a coincidence.  I did wonder if his ship had sunk and I have lost all hope that I would find any details on him.  I live in Blyth too, and know St. Cuthberts well.

From what you say it can't possibly be the same man but such a coincidence.

I wonder if they were related?

Always suffer from afterthoughts - my message on the Durham board brought up a death registration for a William Collen which would fit
