Divorce records
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 14:52 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

I am trying to find a date for possible divorce of Thomas Bielstein and Constance (nee Garton) probably in Glanford Brigg.  I am assuming they were divorced between 1927 (when they were married) and 1942 when Thomas remarried as I cannot find a death for Constance.

If the information is not available on-line, can anyone point me in the right direction to find it.

Martin.

Hi Martin

Free bmd marriage of Constance Beilstein to Sheehan March q. 1942 Truro, Cornwall. 5c - 411

When I crossed referenced with Sheehan

Brendan Sheehan to Garton or Beilstein

I dont think any divorce records would be available until after 100 years have passed   :-\ so it would depend when they did divorce.

this information is Crown Copyright. from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk   London Hall, Thurston Stanley, Phillips, Ayrton, White, Morrish, Smith.    West Ham/Barking Saint,Briggs,   Essex  Barker,   Hampshire  Kill, Kent Spong,   U.S.A Earp, Scotland/Cumbria Templeton, Devon Morrish, Chudley

Hi,

The National Archives online can be searched for divorce records (J 77), index only, but you can get a quote for copying and posting to you.  I got a set from 1904, sent 1st class, for under £10.   Very interesting reading.   ;)

Found this:  J77/3472/5936     1935     Thomas Arthur Bielstein & Ada Gertrude Bielstein

Nothing for  a Thomas and Constance Bielstein.   :-\

The research guide from The National Archives might be helpful.

Hi - I have  just started to look into my family history and found this thread.

If you are still looking for this information I can confirm that my Great-Grandmother was Constance Bielstein (nee Morgan) (1906-1995) and my GreatGrandfather - was Thomas Arthur (1882 - 1946).  They were married in 1936.  Lookups confirm he was as you say married in 1927 to Ada Gertrude Garton and divorced in 1935.

What complicates matters is that there was another Thomas Arthur born 1907 (maybe a son?) that from what I can work out died in 1975 and I think it must be this Thomas Arthur that you found a marriage record for in 1942.

There is also a Thomas W somewhere but I don't yet know how he fits into the mix!

From lots of googles and some GenesReunited lookups I think that Thomas Arthur (1882-1946) may have been the son of Amadeus Bielstein & his wife Anna Maria.   Though I am not too sure about that, so perhaps you would be able to help me there.

May I ask what relation (if any) you are of Thomas or Constance?

Also, do you know if its possible to get free census information from 1891 or 1901 ?

Thanks - Becky

Becky,

I think you need to make 1 more posting before the PM system can work.

Reference Amandus Bielstein b1844.  He isn't in my direct line but if it's the same person he had a brushmaking company down Walton Street, Hull which went bankrupt,  as per London Gazette 16 March 1880, and then in 1881 he was registered as a Carpenter in the Shipping Registry in the National archives :-
