Thoms Directory 1922 shows the Franco-British Portrait Co in 46andahalf Harrington St and 85 Talbot St.
There's a mention of Grafton St, but I don't see it on the Grafton Street listing.

hi folks ... Thanks for that info, do you think i could assume that the Grafton St branch closed before 1922 because its not in the Thoms listings for that year an the photo`s i have, have that branch printed on back which would make them pre 1922 ??? ..

there's no photographer at 111 Grafton Street in 1894 - so that puts an earliest date for any photo's with that address.

as for the 1922 listing maybe they occasionally used a studio or room at that address ?

I've seen the same kind of listing in Thom's before, where the listing for a business in X street will include the wording 'also in Y' street - but there is no listing on Y street. I suspect at least some of these are due to that fact that sometimes Thom's is a little out of date. I know people have found listing for ancestors that were known to be deceased at the time of the directory date.

in 1894 there's a photographer at 25 Upr Sackville st - but not McMahon..

 Sheils, Gregory, photographer,

and in 1914

25 Upr Sackville Str / Sackville St. Arcade
sharing the building with a Thomas Gogan, confectioner
 is Roe McMahon , photographer

Anthony

Just saw in Thoms 1923 the Franco Portrait Co. in No.6 North Earl Street (no British in title) and it was not in the Index.
Nothing in No.5 of interest to you.
Will look further.
