Hi Tracy

If you check out the Hugh Wallis site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountySussex.htm#R you will see Joseph baptised on 23 March 1825 at Rusper to Joseph and Jane.

I think the family you are trying to trace is on the IGI too - extracted records.
It may be that Joseph Humphrey married Jane Peirce (or Peice) 20 Aug 1820
Cowfold Sussex.

A child Philip was chr 13 Nov 1820 Cowfold
Then the family appear to be baptising children in Rusper:
George 19 Oct 1823
Your Joseph chr 23 Mar 1825
Peter chr 23 Mar 1825 d 20 Apr 1825 (twin to Joseph?)
Stephen 25 Mar 1827
Jane 11 Jan 1829
Richard 17 Nov 1835
Henry 17 Dec 1837
Benjamin 22 Oct 1843
Further investigation required to  ascertain if the above is the same/right family.  ;)

I was going to look up Joseph's parents baptisms, but as I should be at work now, I'll leave that for Ruskie.

Tracey, the twin thing is just a guess - people sometimes had children baptised in bulk. However in this case there is not much room to squeeze in another pregnancy.  ;)

Can't see obvious birth/baptisms for Joseph and Jane on the IGI.
