McStravick- Army query

hi new to forum so much to look up/ anyway I am loking for info on where I would get any one 1  my great grandfather Idont know much about him but i think he was in the Army as his 3 children where all born outside Belfast one Dublin 2 in Scotland. His name is James Mcstravick. he died around 1903.
2 my grandfather Henry patrick Smith who was in Huzzars horse regiment ww11 any where i can start would be great

As that's quqite a while ago, any records on Mr McStravick will be at the National Archive at Kew.  It's quite an unusual name, so might be easier to locate soomewhere.

Also, the 1881 census shows a James McStravick age 45, married to Elizabeth.  It says he was born in Ireland.  Others in the household are: Patrick (17), Catherine (15) and John (11).  They are living at 34 Jerviston Square, Bothwell, Lanarkshire and his occupation is given as Labourer in Iron Works.  Reference is Scottish Census, ED8, Household Schedule number 144, Line 1, Roll cssct1881_204

thanks a million james mc stravick was married to roseanne Smith Belfast they had 3 children one my grandmother they were born in Dublin scotland so we were thinking he was in army would that be avaible on his marriage lines?
