Gainsborough Marriage 1831

Hi,

I am hoping that someone will be able to advise me. From the IGI, I have details of the marriage between my g x 3 grandfather Henry Bishopp and Elizabeth Rooks in Gainsborough on 04 June 1831.

The IGI gives a batch no: M011061; Source Call No: 0432500 & Type: Film.

How would I be able to find out if this record contains the name of Henry's parents or at lest his father?

Unfortunately, it isn't possible for me to visit the Lincolnshire Archives, so would someone be able to help me? I am happy to reimburse any copying expenses etc.

Fathers names were not shown on marriage entries prior to 1.7.1837 when civil registration was introduced

I have everything about Henry from 1851 until his death in 1873. He was a Currier and I am supposing that he went to Gainsborough to buy animal skins and met Elizabeth Rooks there. Elizabeth was born in Misterton, so it is possible that Henry was originally from the same area - to be honest, I don't have a clue! On all the census Henry sticks to his story about being born in Pimlico but I can't find any trace of a birth record - hence my hoping that a father's name would be on the marriage certificate.

Just to add to the confusion, I have just found a birth record on IGI for Henry Bishopp 1806 Gainsborough! That's all it says! Great

One of those which should be ignored! 

Based solely on the assumptions that
1) people were married in the place they were born;
2) men were aged 25 when they married.

Note there is a matching one for Elizabeth ROOKS, 1808 Gainsborough based on
1) people were married in the place they were born;
2) women were aged 23 when they married.

No firm basis in fact!

Just to throw coal on the fire a little, Misterton lies at the eastern end of the Chesterfield canal and joins the River Trent.

Gainsborough lies on the opposite side of the Trent just a couple of miles downstream from Misterton, the canal opened in the 1770's and Gainsborough was a port often used to tranship goods from the Chesterfield/Sheffield area to or from seagoing vessels.

It's quite feasible that people as well as goods would travel the same route via the canal and river system, it doesn't help to solve the mystery but it does explain how people could travel around quite extensively at the time.
