Fudge? ... or is it Frugge?
« on: Saturday 25 July 09 08:42 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

One of those confusing surnames that only the brilliant at a site like this can decipher.

I have a Sarah Frugge/Fudge/Fugh born about 1798 in Yeovil, Somersetshire to a Giles Frugge/Fudge/Fugh and his wife Sarah.

She married a George Adams, October 07 1821, at St John's, Yeovil, Somersetshire.

Can anybody shed some light on this lady's surname and any more information that could be sourced about her family.

With thanks,

TasG

Hi TasG,

Full transcript of Sarah's marriage is listed here

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~louisestclairrose/somerset/yeoj/index.htm

I have found a marriage of Giles and Susanna in Yeovil but don't see one to a Sarah

Giles FUDGE = Susanna TAYLOR by Banns 06 Jun 1786 Yeovil St John the Baptist witnesses Joseph TAYLOR and James FOOT

He appears to have been buried 31 Jan 1808 Yeovil St John the Baptist

I don't see anyone listing the name FRUGGE

Cheers Kris  :)

I  have lots of Fudge's in my tree, mostly from the Kingston St Mary and Taunton areas of Somerset where there a quite a few! - large families! May have migrated towards Yeovil... Will have a look through for any connections.
